Current Description
The player controls a little cube with one joystick and, aims and shoots with the other. Enemies of different sizes and stats will randomly spawn at fixed time intervals. Killing enemies will increase the score while failing to do so will make the health of the player decrease. Health boxes will randomly appear too and guess what will happen when they are picked up.
Technical Info
The project files for the game will be maintained for some time on GitHub and anyone has the right to contribute to the game or use the project files in a non-commercial way. The game should work fine on devices running as from Android 4.1. The game will be regularly updated with more improvements and features. https://github.com/KinesisGames/Balls-and-turrets
New features/improvements to be done:
- [ ] Create a main menu when the game is launched. It should have:
1. A _play_, _options_ and _quit_ button. These should have their own menu too (except the _quit_).
2. The _play_ menu should have buttons for the _adventure_ and _endless_ modes.
3. The _options_ menu could have a volume slider and something to regulate the difficulty. Use
_playerprefs_.
4. A _shop_ menu to buy things (more details below).
- [ ] Create some levels for the game. And make buttons for them in the _adventure_ mode of the _play_ menu. There must be something different about levels (not just visual differences).
- [ ] Progressively or based on the score, increase the difficulty of the _endless_ mode and introduce new things in the gameplay.
- [ ] Details about the shop and what will be sold:
1. The current tank or vehicle of the player can be upgraded (speed, bullet damage).
2. Boosters or accessories can be bought to be used during levels. 3 slots will be permitted in-game
and accessories may be allocated before starting to play. These include speed boosts, invincibility
tokens, invisibility tokens and damage multipliers.
3. New vehicles/tanks can be bought and parts can be equipped. Each new vehicle will have some
new or unique thing. For instance, tanks can have dual turrets or one turret at the back and one at the
front or some can shoot laser bullets, killing/harming enemies along a long a straight line or shoot
close range bombs which will explode and kill nearby enemies (or decrease their healths). Of course,
all of this needs to have animations and sound effects. One good example of a part to add is a blade
in front of a turret which will kill/damage any enemy which comes too close to it.
- [ ] Achievements may be introduced and special things may occur like for example unlocking new parts (part will be then available to buy in the shop).
- [ ] Limited ammo for some turrets.
- [ ] While issue #2 talked about spawning health boxes, here it would be good if ammo boxes and boxes to instantly provide boosters/accessories (speed boosts, invincibility tokens, invisibility tokens, damage multipliers, camera zoom out) were introduced. It would be great to have some boxes which can be used as traps to decrease the player's health too. It may already be evident but each type of box needs to have a unique style.
- [ ] Try to add dialogues to the game so that the player can better understand what to do and feel more at ease.
- [ ] Redesign all boards (_start_, _pause_, _gameOver_, etc).
- [ ] A bluetooth/hotspot multiplayer mode. Eventually, players will play in a cooperative way. A maximum of 4 players will be allowed but the difficulty needs to be risen a bit. Enemies will take more hits to die and there must be more of them.
