In Random mode traps are showing randomly, Here traps speed going to be faster and faster each round you pass.
In Linear mode traps going to follow you, In this you need to be aware of rounds which is going to be harder and harder after some time.
Both mode goes on 2x2 to 5x5 tile board.
Less tiles, Less difficulty.
More tiles, More difficulty.
Oh one more thing Random mode has 30 seconds round and Linear mode has 20 seconds round to be pass to next round.
