"Say It Again Kid!" is a foreign language pronunciation learning game aimed at 8-12 year old Finnish school children. The player moves around a game board, solves little puzzles and hears and repeats English words. The English words are in general southern UK dialect. The players also hear the Finnish translations of the words.
The game has been developed as a collaboration between Helsinki University Cognitive Brain Research group Unit, University of Helsinki, and Aalto University Speech Recognition Research Group. The game was used to study the effects of gamification and computational feedback on children's foreign language pronunciation skill developmentlearning. The study was funded by the Academy of Finland (project no 274058) in 2014-2017.
This is a free stripped-down version of the game without the speech technology components. The research project has ended and no technical support is available. The full version including speech recognition and speech rating is not be distributed, because it requires maintaining computing servers.
